Ventilation direction

Our datacentre has recently installed blanking plates to cabinets to fill gaps. Since the switch only takes up half the depth, one end of the cabinet is now blanked over where I'd expect the switch to ventilate.

Which way should a 3750G-24-TS and a 2970 be fitted to ventilate properly?

Which way do they pull air?

How do you solve blanking the switch when it doesn't extend to the back of the rack?

cheers,

Barnaby

3750 pulls the air from the side and pushes hot air to the back.  In my humble opinion, I've seen a 3750 operate in a 29C environment with the fan off (broken).  If you think your environment could be hot, take note that hot air goes up and cold air stays down so you may like to relocate your switch below the "toasters" or servers.  Hope this helps.
