Hi Guys

Talking DCI as Active/Active with OTV

F5 SLB acts as SLB per DC

Qs: when we do vmotion for certain VM from DC to DC how vCenter notify F5 about that event

thanks

Hope you have GLB ( Global Load Balance in place to make active-active LB here)

Vmotion does base on the failure scenario triggers or VM will be motioned in the same subnet other DC - since DCI stretched over Laye2, for F5 it is transparent. ( again this depends on the design of how VLAN and IP subnet stretched.)

If the LB independent per DC, then you have equal Service/servers available both the side, that time you do not need to move the VM, you get trigger alerts from LB that service/server down, you need to investigate and fix.  ( mean time rest of the load will be shared across active and live servers/services).

make sense?

Hello Balaji

no GSS or GLB since we don't have direct  access from Internet to our Servers farm its like 100 Regional Branches with  1000 Users access Servers Farms

Traffic flow somehow like below ,

the VIP for APP-1 is different in DC-1/DC-2

example

VIP for APP1 Is x.x.x. While Y.Y.Y.Y in DC-2

that's why i m asking how vcenter Would notify F5 about VM new location , if GSS in place than VM notify vCenter and by turn vCenter notify GSS About trigger but unfortunately we don't have GSS

how is your Active/Active  Load split then ?

Hello Bro Balaji

Thanks for ur time Bro

see Bro

Application Tears VLANs (WEB,APPs,DB) extended by Cisco OTV

Take this Example ,

WEB-1 in HA cluster served by DC-1 as primary and backed up by DC-2

WEB-2 in HA cluster served by DC-2 as primary  and backed up by DC-1

same is true for APPs
