We have a customer that has a bunch of 6506 chassis's. They needed dense gigabit presentation so we ordered 6148-GE-TX blades for the switches. We checked the software advisor to make sure Sup-1A-2ge (msfc1/pfc1) could run the correct software version. Software advisor reported 6.4.4a. The switches also run the 6408-GBIC and 6348 10/100 ethernet blades.
To cut a long story short, We needed catos version 7.6.1, we couldn't get the sup-1A upgrade kits (to run 128mg of dram for version 7 catos) in time so we have just ordered the sup720's with 2500w PS and Fan tray 2's.
We have taken a view to move the Hybrid Msfc1 ios router config/Catos switch config to full native IOS. We're looking in network designer and have about 50 sofware images to choose from.
I was just looking for any post installation tips/experiences on migration to SUP 720's (full native ios) from a hybrid msfc/Sup-1a catos arrangement.The customer is running ospf without encryption, snmp,tacacs,intervlan routing, ISL (for now) etc...nothing too serious..
Any tips references would be useful, before we start the long process. A catos/ios migration tool would be great !
