I was asked about High-Availability on the 6509's. My understanding was that you could only enable it between Supervisor Engines in the same chassis. They seemed to suggest that you could do it across (2) 6509 chassis. I don't see how this could be true because I thought the configurations had to be identical and I don't think that would be possible if your talking about 2 distinct chassis.
Can anyone assist with this one? Thanks.

You are correct. High-Availability is only for Supervisors in the same Chassis. High-Availability cannot cross chassis.

If you are asking for High-Availability on the 6509 (on the box itself) then the answer would be "no" you can not achieve it across 2*6509 chassis.
But in term of network high-availability, I think you can do it by using (HSRP) along with redundant network design.
