Does anyone know why a flapping link(CAT5) would cause a switch port to go bad? At work the other day I was able to get a link light from that switch port, but couldn't pull an IP address. I plugged the computer into another port and it worked just fine. I tested the run from the users walljack and it was bad, this is the second time it messed up the switch port. I tried clearing the counters, switching VLANs, and shutting down the port, but no go.
Thanks

It sounds like it is errdisabling the port but usually if you just renable the port it should come back up unless there is still a problem on the port .
