Buffer failures - Can't change Medium buffers!

Hi,

I'm having failures on my Medium buffers. I would tune the buffers, but when you try to change the medium buffers you can't, there's no option.

You can change small & middle, etc.. but not Medium!

what kind of device are we talking about here ? with witch software version ?

But my first guess would be as the buffer size for middle and medium stands for 600 byte buffers that is is the same.

You could define this as a small cosmethic error.

hi, thanks for you reply

this is an MSFC2 - Cisco Internetwork Operating System Software

David,

The problem that you are seeing is caused by a software bug. The ddts is CSCdx15857, you should not be seeing medium buffers except for when you are running in native mode. The fix was in 12.1(13)E and above. This problem is not service affected since when system fails to get buffer from this medium buffer pool, it will try to get buffers from next public buffer pool.

Here is a link for the bug if you would like to review it. http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/Support/Bugtool/onebug.pl?bugid=CSCdx15857&cco_product=IOS&fset=&swver=12.1&keyw=Medium%20buffer&target=11b&train=E

Thanks Dan, time for an IOS upgrade!
