Hey all, I hope this is the right place. I need to set up two 1700 routers to connect to each other over a 56k point to point circuit, and would like to know what kind of cable (rollover, crossover, straight through)I can use to conect the serial ports together to simulate the setup before placing the routers into service, if this is possible? I don't have the routers yet, but when I get them want to save as much time setting them up testing as possible. Thanks in advance.

I guess you have a WIC-1DSU-56k on both the 1720's. You can make a crossover cable with the following pins crossed.
1 goes to 7, 2 goes to 8, 7 goes to 1, 8 goes to 2
On the serial interface of one router set the clock source to internal while on the other interface set the clock source to line.

Thanks for the reply. I will give it a try when they arrive. Just out of curiosity the provider states that the line is a 2-wire line as apposed to 4. The document states the interface is a 4-wire interface. Please forgive my ignorance, but will that be an issue?
