We bought the above switch with two module. To my understanding, one is a Giga bit module and the other one is a 10/100 module. Both have 48 RJ45 port. Below is the details of the switch
IOS - cat4000-k9.6-2-3.bin
Supervisor engine 2 - WS-X-4013
module - WS-X-4148-RJ45V
module - WS 4448-GB-RJ45
When we slot in the gigabit module, we couldnt detect it. Is it something to do with our IOS ?
Is it possible if someone could give me a sample configuration for the above switch, so that it act as our backbone switch, where we will connect all our servers and other network equipments like routers and other workgroup switches (2950).
Servers will be using fatetherchannel. No VLAN.
Hope someone helps

The WS-X4448 module needs a minimun CAT OS of 7.x. I suggest that you upgrade to 7.4(3). Check the release notes for known issues

make sure this switch is the root of all the vlans Since this is only layer 2 switches you can't do any routing with this. Plus any other configuration you want to do with this
http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/Support/browse/psp_view.pl?p=Hardware:Cat4000&s=Software_Configuration
enable backbone fast on all the switches and uplink fast on the access switches .
Also you can enable bpdu guard an other features.
