Catalyst Express 500-24PC replacement

Hello, we have a Catalyst Express 500-24PC that's 8 years old and seems to be acting up. Phones are going dead and calls will have no sound and/or ring busy. A reboot of the CE500 seems to fix the issues for a day or so.

What is a suitable replacement for this switch? Something cost effective. Only about 8 phones/PCs, a server and printer in this branch office and 2 VLANs.

I searched and found a thread where someone was using this: https://www.cdw.com/shop/products/Cisco-Small-Business-Smart-Plus-SG220-26P-switch-26-ports-managed-d/3437905.aspx?pfm=srh

Thanks in advance!

I prefer the 2960-X series:

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/switches/catalyst-2960-x-series-switches/models-comparison.html

WS-C2960X-24PSQ-L is interesting.  It has 8 ports of PoE.  Note that in our market the 24 port PoE version (WS-C2960X-24PS-L) is actually cheaper - so check out the options.

The 2960-X series also has models with 10Gbe uplinks - perfect for a server ...

Hello, i ended up replacing the CE500 with an SG300...worked great. But my phones are still randomly going to Fast Busy when trying to make a call. Not sure of the first place to look.

We have a CUCM6.1 setup with mostly 7941's in this branch office. Are these phones losing connection to the CAll manager when they goto fast busy? Resetting the switch fixes the issue.

TIA

You really should have gone with that 2960-X ...  are there any firmware updates for the switch?  If a switch reboot sorts the problem it sounds like a switch fault.

Honestly, there's 2 people in this office with about 8 phones. The CE500 switch I had to reboot it to get phones to work too.

I did upgrade firmware on new switch before I sent it out. (I am remote)

I did make a change to the router bout the time I started having this issue: https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/12726376/slow-2801-performance

This coincided with a user in the remote office randomly pluggin in industrial devices and killing ports on the old switch....hence why I thought it was only a switch issue. Now i'm not sure.
