Cisco 10K router Redundancy

Cisco 10K router contains two 10K router Engine cards (processors). Can these be considered as two seperate routers (active/standby)? Or do we have to have two seperate Cisco 10K rouetrs in order to support redundancy? Pls advise.

Yes, the PREs act as active/standby on the same chassis.

Additionally, you do not need to configure any thing on the 10k to get redundancy between the PRE modules. If 2 PRE modules are installed, automatically one becomes active and other becomes standby.
