The 2501 does not support ISL. If I remeber rightly it was only recently, after the EoL on the 2500 series, that any trunking was allowed at all on 10BaseT. As for ISL on Token Ring, I'm afraid I'm out of my depth. If I were you, I would try looking it up on the Software Advisor:

No, since ISL is only supported in routers with 100 Mbps or faster Ethernet ports.

hi! If i got one cisco 2600 series router with subinteface configured + multiple vlan on that router, will my other routers that didn't support isl/dot1q able to communicate with multiple vlan on router 2600 series?

with the above scenario, any problem if i apply access-list on the 2600 series router? Thks!

That should be OK ... in fact that is precisely what I intend to do in my home lab. Trouble is that second-hand 2600 series are still quite expensive. I think you can do what you want to do with a 1721 as well, but the 2600 would be much more flexible.

I'm not sure what you mean though about "will my other routers that didn't support isl/dot1q able to communicate with multiple vlan on router 2600 series?" I guess you are going through a switch that will sort out the VLANs for you. In that case it is OK, the routers will not even know each other's VLAN capability (or limitation). Of course the 25xx will only be dealing with one of the VLAns at a time.

yes that's what i meant. Thks!
