Cisco 3750 Interface Buffer Pool Failures

A show buffers command on my 3750 Cisco stack shows one of the Interface buffer pools failure count continuously incrementing:

supervisor_cpuq_2_pool buffers, 1542 bytes (total 64, permanent 64):

0 in free list (0 min, 64 max allowed)

11206669 hits, 11206605 misses, 0 trims, 0 created

11206605 failures (0 no memory)

All other public buffer pools and interface buffer pools show no indications of problems. How do I determine what is causing this sole pool to register failures, and is it possible to correct?

Hello,

your output could indicate a buffer leak in the supervisor buffers pool. There is a total of 64 buffers in the supervisor and 0 are in the free list. Something is using all the buffers and not freeing them.

Issue the commands:

show buffers old

and

show buffers pool [pool name] [dump/header]

Which IOS version are you using ? Since buffer leaks are Cisco IOS software bugs, the best solution for this issue is to upgrade the Cisco IOS software to the latest version.

Hello

We had the same problem, which caused serious performance problems even between two stations on the same switch and in the same VLAN.

After we replaced the switch with a new one, the problemes were solved. We use exactly the same configuration and the same software: 12.1.19.EA1c (SMI)
