Can anyone tell me if a GBIC model WS-G5482 will work in a Catalyst 6000 series switch? We have a GBIC model blade inserted into our 6000 and currently use some Fiber GBICs in it to run uplinks to our core network but would also love to be able to add local 1000-basetx connections for our local servers without adding another blade.

John,
I don't believe this will work. I believe you have to buy a special card from Cisco to handle the copper GBICs. I am not positive, though, so I recommend contacting your local Cisco office and ask one of their SEs if this is correct. Hope this helps.
