Experiences with any used cisco hardware vendors ?

Hello,
I find refurbished and/or used Cisco hardware vendors usually way too expensive. Obviously, you save some money, but I would rather go through the informal channels (like Ebay). Are you looking to build a test lab ? Or do you need replacements for a business environment ?
Regards,
Georg

Often, it boils down to two things.
a) price
b) support.
Price is maybe 10 - 20% off new products... the 30 - 75% savings that are stated on some ads are from the MSRP, when even new equipment is discounted 10-30 % off MSRP.
One of the vendors where i bought cisco gear is able to tie a smartnet contract to that used/refurbished equipment. Which in the end means that if anything does go wrong, cisco stands behind it.

Don't know if this is still of interest, but there are loads of companies where you can purchase used equipment.
I can recomment http://www.durabilit.eu
The are a well established company that gives good support.

You da man, Leo. I use this source quite frequently via my normal reseller - saves money, doesn't get me into trouble with licensing terms, and can still qualify for service contracts.

Thanks Darren.
Didn't know these folks exist until I went to their stand during Cisco Live 2011 in Melbourne, Australia.

Yes, good alternative to buying from a 3rd party.

It's about the only advantage of working for a company which is as tight as a fishes backside. I find all sorts of money-saving options. :-)

Hell yes. Especially when you realise that (unless things have changed in the last couple of years - this was the case last time I tried to buy from a third-party second hand dealer - may be different now) if you buy second hand from someone other than Cisco, you are *not* licensed for IOS on the second hand device, and are required to go to Cisco to buy one anyway!
Cheers.
