CiscoWorks for Windows NSLOOKUP errors

Hi, can anyone advise me how I can get the server to look at the host file located on the server rather than the DNS server. Currently all our devices are located in a host file, and when we go to SNMP from the server to the device we get the error message "

Sorry, nslookup encountered an error while looking up the device xxxxxx.xxxx.co.uk". I can ping the devices by name from the server. But when I do nbtstate and the server name it advises me that our DNS server does not have a record. I know it doesn't as it is located in the host file on the server.

May be by default it first looks at the DNS server. Have you disabled the DNS server?? Hope the server where the host file is located is reachable.
