Hi,
Does anyone know the command to find out the serial number of a 3640 router. I thought it was "show version" but that doesn't seem to have the serial number in there.
Thanks,
Ted

Hello Ted,
this is from a previous post and, AFAIK, applies to the 3640 as well:
'You will have to physically read the serial number off the box.
For future installs, make sure you either configure a loopback interface and put a description on the loopback interface with the serial number of the device.
Another way to do this is to configure SNMP on the router and in the "snmp chassis-id" command specify the serial number. This way you can pull the serial number via SNMP software.'

AFAIK you can't; the only way is to read the label on the box. All you can read from the show vers is the processor board serial number.
Unlike Catalyst switches, which have a whole 16-page TAC document dedicated to reading serial numbers.
