I have a CSS load balancer set up to load balance a pair of DNS servers running bind on RedHat. The keepalive script provided, ap-kal-dns, only checks to determine if named is up and running on the DNS servers. On the DNS servers, though, I have scripts that modify named.conf, and every once in a while they leave named.conf in a bad state, causing named to be up and running, but not be able to actually translate names.
Has anyone developed a CSS keepalive script that will actually attempt to translate a DNS name provided to the script, and down the service if it can't?
