Hi there,
Our network engineer had took a major turn in life, and left me to handle the network for the time being. So I need some advice here.
We have 2 X layer 2 sites connected by 2 X 500Mbps EoA connection, running spanning-tree mode, all ports run in trunk mode with all vlans (about 20 of them). By default, all vlans go through a single link (Port A), left another link (Port B) almost no traffic. I want to move some of the vlans from Port A to Port B, by changing "spanning-tree vlan xxx cost xx" to balance the load between 2 links, and I also want to prune some vlans out of the link to further optimze bandwidth.
I used to be an administrator for our office network which means I can affrod plenty of downtime after office hours to work, but now I need to cover the production network which require 0 downtime of all vlans 24.7. So my questions are:
1. If I issue the command on the alt/blk port to change the spanning-tree cost of a single vlan to make it root port, will that affect other vlans on the same port at all, such as temporary drops, pvst relearn... etc?
2. When I issue prune vlan command on a port, will there be any interuption on other vlans?
Thank you very much in advance.

Hello Kenneth,
In which STP mode are running your switches? Can you provide some sketch of your topology to be able to help with migration?
In general changes made on one VLAN are local to that particular VLAN in PVST/RPVST mode.
Best Regards
