Can the enable password be entered as an encrypted string in CatOS? If so, how?

You can do the same on Cisco IOS, using the command,
enable secret 5
I doubt if this is possible on the CAT OS, because you have to use the set commands, set enablepass and hit the enter key, and it prompts for old and new passwords. I think there is no option to specify encrypted string as password.

In my switch configs the passwords are encrypted, although the configuration, including the "show config all" version, shows no command that seams to enable password encryption. I'm running 5.4(2) in my 6509s. The passwords may be encrypted by default.

Hi,
I've never seen a clear text enable password in a CatOS config.
Which platform and CatOS version are you running?
Don't you mean a VTP domain passwords (they are clear in a CatOS config)?

Milan
