Error message when initializing an IDSM-2 in Catalyst 6500

During the diagnosting of the IDSM-2 in my cisco Catalyst 6500 switch i receive the follwoing error message:

%ONLINE-SP-6-INITFAIL: Module 5: Failed to synchronize Port asic

any help would be greatly appreciated

This could be a boot failure. You need to check if your sup is working properly.

First try reseating the module. If you still see the error then you either have a bad slot 5 or a bad module. Try the same IDSM-2 in a different slot or in a different 6500, if possible, and see if it comes up. If that doesn't work it sounds like you'll have to RMA the blade.
