Host Routers in OSPF area (Dial-UP) ?

Hi there !

I would like to achieve that no Host Routes will be redistributed in OSPF if any Dial-UP Client connects.

The Router is a Auton. System Boundary Router as it also redistributes Static Routes.

So I tried to configure a "summary address" for the Dial-UP Clients. But as the Virtual-Template is unnumbered and terminates on a FastEthernet Interface there is no Interface in the Area I would like the Clients to be.

Dial-UP Clients (Area 3) 172.x.x.x

FastEthernet : 10.x.x.x

network 172.x.x.x. area 3

network 10.x.x.x area 0

summary address 172.x.x.x

Could anyone give me a hint ?

THX

Hans

Have you tried the 'no peer neighbor-route' command on the dialup connections. This works for DDR !

When all clients dial in to the same router you could consider entering a static route (lower distance) for the subnet.

This will not prohibit the host routes to appear as they are more specific routes. But with a static route in place you can filter these updates without losing connectivity.
