How to change an ifindex?

Hi,

I have to change our coreswitches from 4003 (Cat-IOS) to 4506 (IOS). On the new switches the ifindexes are different than before.

My simple question is how to change these ifindexes?

I looked up the Cisco pages but I have not had any success yet.

I believe that you cann't change them. If you want to use polling of interfaces even ifindex changes, then try to use MRTG.
