Hi there,

We have few CATalyst 4006, 6509 (layer-3 capable)and few Smartswtiches 6000, 9000 (cabletron) and 3Com.

This mesh form a huge layer-2 flat networj and we are having problen with broadcast traffic.

So far i only have experienced with Cisco product so I do not know how to put this mesh together and get it running with inter-VLAN routing.

anybody can recommend how to organize this mesh !

Appricie your help

You’re always bound to run into some “gotchas” in a mixed vendor environment but these are pretty common features across all vendors so they should play well together.

VTP is Cisco-propiertary, so is ISL.

In mixed-vendor, use 802.1q for VLAN trunk/tagging.

GVRP (part of 802.1q) is the standard that is like VTP but some devices that can do 802.1q might not have GVRP support so YMMV.
