I have attached a Foundry switch to my Cisco router. I have applied an IP to the Foundry layer 2 switch. I have link and protocol "UP" status on the Cisco and have link lights on my Foundry cross connect. However, I am unable to ping the Foundry from the Cisco across the link. I believe it may be a layer 2/3 problem, but need better information on where or what may be causing this problem.
Thank You.

If the link and protocol are both UP:
- verify correct ip address and subnet mask setting on both devices
- check duplex and speed configuration on both sides, they should match.
- check for CRC, FCS, and other errors
- try using a known good cable.
Goodluck.

YOu might allso want to check the vlans on the ports and the vlan of the managment interfaces of both switches.
