Is Catalyst 2924 supports Inter VLAN routing, if not what’s the minimum requirement of switch to support Inter VLAN routing.

2924 cannot do intervlan routing. Consider the CAT3550/3560/3750 or the CAT4500 platforms.

What If I use router for layer 3 routing, can you please suggest me how can I do Inter VLAN Routing then?

We are a call center provider, what I am trying to do is to segregate voice and data using different VLANS but I do need to have a mechanism through which I can be able to do Inter VLAN routing.

Thanks in advance for help...

Yes.. You can use an external router and configure "router on a stick"

Hi,

The Catalyst 2924 is an standard layer 2 switch unable to perform inter-vlan routing without the help of an external router.

The Catalyst 3550 switch can do inter-vlan routing with either SMI or EMI software image. With SMI image you get basic static routing and with EMI you can configure routing protocols like EIGRP, OSPF and BGP besides other Quality of Service options.

Check this link for more information about Catalyst 3550
