Does anybody know how to limit the traffic direct to the switch or router? if the switch or router is continuously PINGed by large packets or many users, the performance of the equipment will be impacted severely or even many time-out for normal users' connection. But still need the ability for the network administrator to PING the equipment to test the availability of connection.
Appreciate someone could provide way to limit the packet size which destination is the equipment and limit concurrent users to PING the equipment.

Setup an access-list on the switch or router to permit only network management IP addresses that you specify, to allow ICMP packets. This should solve your problem. Hope this helps..

Thanks, Matt. But how to set the access-list in Native Catalyst commands to limit PING?
