Line and OSPF password encryption?

Thomas Ossman

Not sure if this is the appropriate place to post this discussion, so I appologize in advance if it is not.  Is there any possible way to make the line passwords (con 0, aux 0, and vty 0 4) and OSPF message-digest-key type 5?  Either directly or by the service password-encryption command.  Or can they only be type 0 or type 7?

Thanks

The OSPF-password is needed in clear every time a hash has to be build, so it can't be type 5.

For the line-passwords it would probably be possible, but is not implemented. But for login you can change to user-based logins and use hash-based passwords with the "username ... secret"-command. Then you don't need the line passwords at all.
