Multicast on Cat2950 and Tomcat

We have a config with one 2950 and two Windows 2003 web ed. running tomcat for session replication.

They are communicating via multicast but traffis seems to malfunction.

Whats the minimum config in IOS on the cat for having multicast operable?

Any IP-adress that is "off limit" to use?

Does the application set up the multicast group by it self and handling in/out of the group?

Here is a nice document on the Multicast Catalyst Switches Support Matrix. The 2950 supports IGMP Snooping.

It is probably due to IGMP snooping where mcast traffic is constrained. Try disabling it on the vlan. If still busted, check the multicast group you are using and assure it is not in the reserved range.
