I finally got my hands on a console cable and to no surprise there is a password on it. I was givin some equip to practice for my CCNA exam and they had passwords on them. I tried running the confreg 0x2142 command at the rommon 1> prompt and then typed reset at the rommon 2> and this is the message I get. Does anyone know a way around this?

Looks like there's no IOS on the flash. Otherwise, the file might be corrupted. Check the link below for the details, and the link on how to recover from ROMMon:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps259/products_tech_note09186a0080094ae0.shtml#router_boots_no_error

Goodluck.

Try the following steps:

rommon 1 > dir flash:

rommon 2 > boot flash:

If it does not boot up, go to this URL and load a new IOS on the router because either you don't have an IOS or it is corrupt:

hope this helps....
