Remotely Disabling the Console Port

Hello,

Within our network there a number of contractors performing a number of services. At any time we may be conducting IOS upgrades by one group and MPLS cutovers by another; simultaneously! You can forsee the difficulties posed if there was no communication between the groups. Group 1 erases flash to upload a new image, group 2 reloads the router to implement config changes... Disaster.

Of course proper scheduling would eliminate this problem, but if that was not possible... The MPLS group operates via Dial Back Up modem connected to the Console. The IOS group operates via telnet.

Can the Console port be disabled via telnet? This would at least prevent the two teams working on the same device at the same time (even though I'm sure it will lead to other issues...:).

Thanks,

J R
