hello guys,
I'have just configured MSTP + RSTP on Cat4506Sup2 + L3 - Cat3550G12 - Cat2950G, and it seems to work well ( convergence in 1 / 2 secs !! ).
Anyone has "real" experience in a production network ?
I'm still in lab, and would like avoiding trouble at customer site ....
Any comment appreciated.

Here is a config guide that might help you.
and also a Troubleshooting guide for STP.

Hi,
Good questions. Looks like many still use uplinkf./cross-stack uplinkf because of a mix of new and old hw. I'm planning to use it in production.
I have done test on mstp myself, great convergence. But I experienced problem when restoring failed links. I had a mix of 3550 and 2950 running 12.1(11)EA1a. I haven't managed to test more (time is always a problem:). It would by nice to hear your running versions so I can test my equipment with it.

Hi,
my running version are :
Cat4500 sup2 Version 7.5(1)
Cat3550-12G Version 12.1(12c)EA1
Cat2950G-24 Version 12.1(12c)EA1
MST with 2 instance other than IST, and 2 balanced Gbic uplink from sup2 to 3550, one for vlans 2-49 one for 50-99. Access are 2950 Gbic+Gstack.
It starts running just yesterday at customer site, and I plan to have all access running in 2 weeks. Until now it seems to work fine ... ;-))
regards
Maurizio
