I have a partner who is trying to add a newly discovered device to their Smart Care contract,
and received the following error: A device type mismatch occurred. The required data could not be collected from the device.
Part number is correct, he has enabled SNMP v2C and enabled the snmp host to receive internal notifications as the Smart Care appliance.
Any ideas what may be causing the error or documentation that he should reference. He tried to open a TAC case but was called into another assignment and was not able to work with TAC. Trying to get input to assist him when he gets back to this issue.

One possibility is that the Smart Care client not able to collect the device type during the inventory service; therefore, the device type is not verified and the inventory service fails. The trace log to this inventory service on the Smart Care client may provide additional information to what is causing the error.

The partner has been able to engage TAC again, this is the update after I shared your input.
TAC has been working on the issue for the past week. Error seems to be occuring on the back end of the process, not on the portal side, so the fix is being worked on the process side at Cisco.
