SNMP query against 3640 RAS for connection times

I'm looking for a way to query a 3640 on a daily basis for username and time connected. The purpose is to catch users not logging off which drives up our connect time fees. I have CiscoWorks for LAN and Solar Winds Professional Edition (mib walker only) but am open to other options. We don't need a full blow application since we are only after this one bit of information. I'm still trying to understand what some of these objects are.

e.g.

1.3.6.1.4.1.9.2.9.2.1.1.39 tsLineActive.39

1.3.6.1.4.1.9.2.9.2.1.18.39 tsLineUser.39

1.3.6.1.4.1.9.2.9.2.1.21.34 tsLineTimeActive.34

1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.19.1.3.1.1.3.1570784272.0 cpmActiveUserID.1570784272.0

1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.19.1.3.1.1.8.1570784272.0 cpmActiveCallDuration.1570784272.0

I believe those objects would get me the information I am after.

Thanks in advance

You can use the CCO SNMP Object Navigator to traslate these obejcts which will tell you the details like what it means, which MIB are these from etc: http://www.cisco.com/pcgi-bin/Support/Mibbrowser/unity.pl?tab=2

For example, tsLineActive is from OLD-CISCO-TS-MIB = Boolean whether this line is active or not.

Thank you, this information is helpful. What I am most in need of at the moment is the ability to query those few objects in order to generate a daily report on useage. This will assist us in finding out what users are keeping a connection active for extended periods.

There is probably the ability within CiscoWorks LMS. If not, I also have Solar Winds Professional Ed. and upgrading to another version should allow me to query against specific objects. Are there any other tools (especially free) that will perform this task?

Thanks

You can use the UCD-SNMP freeware CLI tools to do the polling:

I have not found a facility withing CiscoWorks LMS that will get me the info I am after. I did find a great tool in "getif" v2.3.1 author Philippe Simonet.

Ultimately I am going to upgrade Solarwinds Pro to Pro Plus. That version contains a MIB viewer by variable, table or OID sequence.

Thanks for your input.

David

You can get 'JT: SNMPWALK for CiscoWorks 2000' from:

http://sourceforge.net/docman/display_doc.php?docid=4822&group_id=25401 which will give you the snmpwalk/get abilitiy in the CW2K UI itself.
