Hello

I need configure a controller SONET to operate on a SDH ring like a simgle 155 Mbps link.

controller SONET 8/0/0

The doubt is how to associate the IP interface on this connection ?

Thanks

First I would set the clock source to line. You don't want to use internal clocking unless you were going to another router. The next thing, is this a POS interface or a channelized circuit. If it is a POS interface then after you configured the controller you should have an interface POS 8/0/0 and from there you can configure the IP address.

Thank's for your reply Smif, the clocking is external, I've change the clock just to made a internal loop. Good question about the link, channelized or not, becase on the show version the interface appears like a channelized. Is possible to use a channelized link as a single link.

Hello,

If there is the "no channelized" command, maybe you can used this card as unchannelized(full 155M interface).

If it is possible, router would make another IP interface like "interface serial x/x/x".

But If you can't,

You should make channel-groups to make IP interfaces.

I think you need to check the card with CCO tools whether the card support unchannelized mode.

I hope this could help you.

Brandon.

Hello Demetrio,

Reading your question on the forum (and the answers you got) I was wondering about the latest status of you're problem (still actual/or passed).

It's not really clear to me what you want (exactly).

According to you're 'sh ver' output you have indeed a Chann. STM port adapter (known as PA-MC-STM-1SMI or SMM depending on you'r fibre required to the SDH equipment/node)

This port adapter has 'so called' Terminal Mux capabilities. Hereby you put a SHD 'terminating' functionality in you're router. For an IP-guy very complex/ambitious to do (entering the magnificent world of SDH) because you need to adapt yourself the the 'used' Multiplexing structure in the SDH network.

Once you have done these settings you're Chann. STM-1 will create the 63*E1 serial interfaces on you're router (as of this point you're in business)

My question to you, What's you're business (do you need the 63*E1 serials) and are you in!!

Hope to hear from you,

Chris
