Splitting T1 into Data & Voice using VWIC2-2MFT-T1/E1

Hi,

I have a client who wishes to use a single T1 to carry data and voice between sites.

I believe I can use the VWIC2-2MFT-T1/E1 to split the T1 into data channel & TDM voice groups, but I'm kind of struggling with the concept.

I'm good on data, but don't know too much about the voice.

I guess what I need to know is, once I've split the T1 into different groups, what do I do with the voice part of it? i.e. how do I get it from the controller to an interface that I can connect into the PBX?

Sorry if this makes no sense, like I say voice is kind of new to me.

Also, what IOS feature set will I need for this?

Thanks in advance.

Splitting T1 statically for voice and data is not a good solution. The reason is that data cannot use the voice portion when needed, so everything will run slower with waste of bandwidth.

Instead, with VoIP you will use the circuit at the best all the time, can also compress voice, and many other advantages.

In any case, I recommend you engage a qualified cisco partner or consultant whatever the decision.
