Hi

on a cisco 6509 ive statically configured a static arp entry but now would like to remove it. The problem is no matter how many time i configure(glabal) no arp <ip address> the arp entry remains in the cache. The weird thing is im able to clear other static arp entries with the same command. The only thing im able to do is give the static arp entry another mac address but cannot remove completely.

Any ideas why???????

What is the entry? It isn't a system entry is it? Or is it an entry that is getting re-lerned dynamically?

the command in global mode is

arp 10.240.232.34 arpa

i am not able to remove this static entry, always appears in the cache

but i am able to remove other static entries with was entered with the same command.

any ideas why?

Does the arp command stay in the config? Can you still see it in a show run?

Are you sure that it is not being refreshed dynamically? Does that IP address respond when you ping it?

Could it be this bug? Which version are you using?
