Tracking IP address

On CISCO Catalyst 6500. Given only IP address, anyways to check whether this particular IP address is on which port of the switch?

Assuming you have a layer 3 module in the 6500 look at the ARP cache. If not you have to somehow get the MAC address associated with the IP address and look at the mac-address-table or CAM.

try using the layer two trace command. It is "l2trace" It requires CDP be enabled on the switches. Here is a link for more infomation.

If you use the User Tracker utility under Campus Manager you can do a sort of IP addresses by clicking the IP Address column. Then go to your IP address and it will list the switch name and port numbers.
