The configuration on the 3600

1) serial port 0/0:

ip add 192.196.16.102 255.255.255.252

encap PPP

no shut

2) ethernet0/0 port:

ip add 128.223.17.1 255.255.0.0

no shut

3) router eigrp 10

network 128.223.0.0

network 192.196.16.0

Configuration on the 2600:

ethernet0/0

ip add 128.227.45.1 255.255.255.0

nu shut

serial 0/0

ip add 192.196.16.101 255.255.255.252

encap ppp

no shut

router eigrp 10

network 128.227.0.0

network 192.196.16.0

After the completion ofall these configurations, I was able to ping from router to router across the WAN link. I was also able to ping ethernet port from any of the hosts but the problem is "I was not able to ping from host to host across the link".

Is there anybody to assist me on this issue!!!!!

Hi,

I know this sounds simple, but do your hosts have a default gateway set? Also if you do an extended ping from one router to the other with the ethernet port set as the source address, to the other ethernet port of the second router, does this work?

Regards.

Bill.

Sir,

Thank you for your interest in solving my problem.

Actually I am doing an upgrade on a wide area network comprising twenty locations. Uptill now all these locations are working perfectly. The only problem is this new one I want to add to the WAN.

The problem at hand now is that I have gotten another router 2500 with 16 hub ports. The router is able to communicate with the 2600 when I added ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 192.196.16.102 to the configurations of both 2500 and 2600 but the response I am receiving from ethernet port on 2600 at a host on the LAN connecting to 2500 is 1000ms.

I believe this is too high for a satellite link.

Please what could be responsible?

Hi,

Can you post your configs and I'll have a look. Also you could send "sh tech" output to me directly as the output is fairly verbose.

bill@dnrc.net

Round trip delay over Satellite links is usually around the 600ms mark.

Thanks.

Hi,

I have sent copies of the files to your mail box

Regards,

Sam

Is routing up and working on these ? Sounds like your routing protocol is not working .

Hi Sir,

The link is up. All I did was to do an end-to-end test using a sunrise BER test sets. Though the test sets did not report any error however when the link was normalised, the response time was okay i.e 660mS.

However, it would be appreciated if anybody can give me a suggestion on how to eliminate the re-occurence of this freezing condition of v.35 connectors.

Vbregds,

Sam
