Upgrade 6506 & 3500xl Cats

Hi

Anyone know the latest IOS needed for layer 2 switching on all the above products. They have not been updated since they were installed four years ago!

Hi Glen,

For your 3500XL, the latest version is 12.0(5)WC9. There is not any open caveat in this release.

For your 6506, please describe your hardware platform and existing version clearly. For example, are you using Sup1 or Sup2? Are you using MSFC1 or MSFC2? Are you using PFC1 or PFC2? Is there any DFC in your 65? Are you running hybrid OS or native IOS?

Thanks for the reply. The 6506 is a Catalyst 6000 Supervisor Engine1-A, 2GE, plus MSFC & PFC

Dont know the exact ios version at the moment, could I install either?

8.2.1 for the 6500 and 12.0(5).WC9 for the 3550XL are the latest on CCO.

Does anyone have a recommendation as to what to deploy on the c6500?

I am running 6.4.1 right now but I am interested to upgrade to version 7.

Please load 6.4(7). I do not recommend 7.x or 8.x unless you need HW support or a certain feature.
