Might anyone be able to provide me with clues on how to create a job that would go into each fastethernet port 0/1 through 0/48 (on3500XL) and execute the same command --- specifically "spanning-tree portfast"? Is there an easier way than using CW2K? Thanks in advance for your replies......

I take the low-tech approach: I keep a text file on my system where I keep all my repetitive chunks of commands, including the whole string of port configs (1 thru 48), and other stuff that requires alot of typing. I copy the chunk I want and paste it into the telnet session. It would be neat to see if someone is fancy enough to come up with something, but I can't slow down enough to sit and set something like that up.

You can take that file you kept and upload it to NetConfig. That way, you can select all of the switches that need to get the config at once and you don't have to spend the time telnetting from switch to switch, CiscoWorks will do that for you.

I am hoping to accomplish the very same thing by using RCP or RSH although I havent quite got it yet. Have you looked into RCP as a way to excute commands remotely? Other than that, it is cut and paste
