what is NSPA, when referring to 6400 cat?

In 6400's there are NSP's (Network Switch Processors) and NRP's (Network Route Processors). There can be redundant NRP's and NSP's. NSPA refers to primary/active NSP and NSPB refers to backup NSP.

thanx don, I am familiar w/ nrp & nsp, however when I heard a colleague refer to an nspa way out of context it seamed he couldn't possibly be referring to a the same device. Apparently I was mistaken.
