I need a quick education on how to save the running config on a 2600 router to the Startup Config. I tried the copy system:running-config nvram:startup-config command and when I restarted the system it still brought me back to the initial config. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
check the configurattion register value by "sh version" command. The configuration register value must be 0x2102. If not, make it 0x2102 and then make your config and save.
hope this helps..

Just do a "write mem" or "copy run start"

When I did that (wr mem) and powered down the router, It came back looking for the initial configuration dialog again. Help!!!!
