Accessing the Compactflash from the routeprocessor on a SUP720

Hello,

We have several C6500's with a SUP 720 running in hybrid mode. On the routeprocessor we'd like to access the files on the Compact Flash, but it seems like this doesn't work :

Router#dir disk0:

^

% Invalid input detected at '^' marker.

From the Switchprocessor we can read and write files on the CompactFlash without a problem, so there isn’t a (hardware) problem with the CompactFlash.

Does anyone have an idea how we can do this ?

Thanks

Philippe

What you are seeing is normal. In Hybrid mode the MSFCs can never read the contents of disk or slot0: contents but can still access it(you can boot an image of disk0: but cannot read the contents of it)

To look at the contents you would have to be on the mls side , then you can do a dir disk0: and it will show what's on the flash .

Hi,

Thanks for your answers. If you can't access the Compact flash completely from the RouteProcessor, I just wonder how you can easily upgrade the IOS soft of the RouteProcessor if you don't have any network connection. (What is the purpose of the Compacflash, if you can't use this for a soft-upgrade of the RP ?).

Greetings,

Philippe

You can use the flash , though you can't do a dir on it from RP side if you put a boot statement pointing to it on the RP side it will find it and load it ok .
