Cat3550 RSPAN config to clarify

Hello Everyone,

The available technical notes do not explain neither how the reflector port should be configured nor what VLAN should it belong to.

Additionally: should the RSPAN dedicated vlan be configured explicitly as:

Switch(config-vlan)#remote-span

to work properly?

Thanks in advance for potential answers.

Rgds

Adam,

The following link answers all your questions:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/hw/switches/ps646/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a008011594e.html

Yes, it is recommended to have a dedicated VLAN for RSPAN, also in the above URL.

Hope this helps you,

Don

Don,

Thanks for unswer

Unfortunately, it does not help. I have read this doc several times and is not enough neither to understand nor to configure.

I read in command reference (remote-span command) that this cmd specifies the vlan characteristics. There is no info in config guide about this cmd.

Reflector-port: how does it happen for this port to forward traffic into RSPAN vlan? Should I add this port to the RSPAN vlan?

Regards

Adam
