Hi,
With the cat6500, the port status shows that the port is connected eventhough the device is turned off. The port status will only showed that it is NOT CONNECTED when the ethernet cable is removed from the inactive device.
Can someone please explain why and how can this misleading information be deactivated?
TIA

Hello,
Can you confirm the device is completely powered-off. If the port status is changes to NOT CONNECT on removal of the cable there has to be some kind of activity on the NIC of the device. Check if you see LED activity. Also confirm if keepalive is not disabled on the port.

Leon,
Thanks very much for the reply. The device is completely powered-off. I checked the led on the nic card and there are lights. The minute I pulled the power plug out, the led lights went out and the switch showed NOT CONNECTED. Plug the power cords back in, the led lights came on (without powering on the device).
Keepalive is enabled on the port (default).
TIA
