Catalyst 2924 XL-Cannot log on using telnet or console

I cannot log onto my switch using telnet or the console. When I try, it immediately displays three lines saying

password

password

password

% Bad Passwords

I can only log on to the switch using the java aplet and web administration option. I have not tried cycling off the power, I wanted to first make sure that wont cause me more headaches. Anyone have any ideas?

Log on using the web interface and change the console and vty passwords.

You can reset the switch and enter setup mode again by powering the switch down, hold the mode button while powering on until the first port light goes out. FYI you will lose your current config in the process.

just do that http password change that will work.

Or just do a password recovery on it. Don't worry worry you will not lose your config.

just hold down the mode button until the 0/1 port led goes out. the follow the steps cisco supplied.

Once again, you will not lose you config. Its saved on the switch in flash:config.text
