channel-group with trunk in 2950 12.1(12c)EA1

Dear Sir,

I have three switches 2950 with ISO version 12.1(12c)EA1. They are formed as delta connection with others. Two of ports in each switch are assigned channel-group 1 and 2 correspondingly and are inter-connection with others to meet redundancy purpose.

My question is that I can use the command "sh spanning-tree" to see two ports in switch 3 are blocked, however, I cannot see the indication LED on the front to be changed to AMBER color. Is it that right?

Best Regards.

Amber lights indicate a physical problem with a port. Ports that are blocking in spanning tree have no physical problem, therefore they will not be amber.

Good luck.

Thanks for reply!

I also have an another switch 2950 with old ISO version 12.0(5)EA1, however, they are able to show AMBER color if the port are blocked by STP. Is it abnormal?

Best Regards.

Hi,

there is a difference between access ports and trunks.

Trunk LED is always green (if physically up), even if STP blocks all VLANs on it.

Access port LED is amber when STP blocks the port.

I've not tested if Etherchannel has any influence on this behaviour.

Regards,

Milan
