hi
i have a catalyst 3550. i hev also a gbic
i have put the gbic in a frre slot and on boot i have
00:00:34: %GBIC_SECURITY-4-VN_DATA_CRC_ERROR: GBIC interface Gi0/1 has bad crc
00:00:34: %PM-4-ERR_DISABLE: gbic-invalid error detected on Gi0/1, putting
Gi0/1 in err-disable state
my gbic is :
cisco systems 30-0759-01 1000BASE-SX.
i have tried to upgrade ios to the latest version without results.
Why on another catalyst 3500 the gbic seems work well?
bye

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/cat2950/1219ea1/smg/msg_desc.htm#xtocid7

yes i have sent gbic to a friend. he say that no errors on boot, but gbic seems a lx type..... it seems strange.
i have read your link and gbic seems to be not supported...
my model of gbic is 30-0759-01 1000BASE-SX.
note: i have open a case with tac and i have uploaded the new ios. how can i see if gbic is supported for my model?
thank you.

Release- note can tell you if the GBIC is supported or not. By the way, LX is supported

i can't see c3550 why?

Thanks for pointing, It is not updated, it is not even showing Cat6000- It is always best to check the release note.
