Cisco 3945 IOS upgrade

[svadmin]

I am trying to upgrade the IOS on Cisco 3945.

Current IOS is"

boot-start-marker
boot system flash:c3900e-universalk9-mz.SPA.155-3.M5.bin
boot system flash:c3900e-universalk9-mz.SPA.152-4.M7.bin
boot-end-marker

and I am trying to upgrade to  UNIVERSAL  c3900-universalk9-mz.SPA.157-3.M3.bin

What is the upgrade Path 

Second question:

When I run the command show flash0:  I get a whole list of files in the flash (See Bellow)  but when I run DIR  then only few files shows up ( see bellow)   Does anyone know if the other files in the flash are needed, or should they be deleted?

Read 157-3.M3 Release Notes. It describe prerequisites, if there are some, hardware configuration required as well as other important information.

 It won't work.  The NEW IOS filename is incorrect.  

Those files with the prefix "ccp" stands for Cisco Configuration Professional.  Not my call if you need them or not.  

CF contains three IOS files.  Delete the oldest one "c3900e-universalk9-mz.SPA.151-3.T2.bin" and there should be enough space.

According current firmware name, you have Cisco 3945E Integrated Services Router, not Cisco 3945 Integrated Services Router.

You need to download correct firmware from cisco software download (for the box you have) first.

Don't forget to read Release Notes before upgrade.

Well that depends on the exact model of the router.  What do you have?  3945 or 3945e?

I mean verifying/uploading the new .bin file to the flash, modifying the boot var pointing to the new file and reloading the box? or there are other considerations?

Almost the same, except router may sometimes require a ROMMON upgrade.  This is why it is always a "best practice" to read the Release Notes FIRST.

When I run the command show flash0:  I get a whole list of files in the flash (See Bellow)  but when I run DIR  then only few files shows up ( see bellow)

show flash0: shows all files on flash while dir shows files (and subdirectory names) of current directory only

Does anyone know if the other files in the flash are needed, or should they be deleted?

If you are using them, then you need them. Otherwise they can be deleted. Ancient crashinfo* files are good for no one now.
