on the cisco 880 there is a single port for both aux and colsole access.
I am working for an ISP and we configure the aux port as an ASYNC proving ISDN backup to the customer in case the adsl fails.
The problem is when fo rthe very first time the customer is using the aux port to dial out th emodem assign the speed for that line so when afterwards
you connect the console cable to access the router you get metal characters.
I tried to change the speed through the rommon and use either hyper terminal or putty but still I am getting metal characters. The only option is to dialout and access the router through the modem or telnet.
Has anyone came across the same probelm and fixed that?
